Hello, I'm Chloe Edwards
Hi, I'm Chloë Edwards and I'm an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working in Brighton & Hove.
What is Integrative Psychotherapy?
Integrative therapy is named because it integrates many different ways of working into one. What that means for you in the therapy room is that rather than being offered one approach and hoping it works, we can try lots of different types of therapy and then pick and choose the parts that work best for you. This might mean that each session feels very different from the last, or that we find one way of working that suits you every week but the choice is always yours.
How might therapy look?
Therapy is traditionally about talking, be that of the past, the present, or fantasies of what could or will be. However sometimes we don't have the words to describe what's going on for us. I therefore offer in addition to talk therapy options to incorporate some more creative elements which engage the right hand side of your brain - this might take the form of writing, drawing, or enacting ideas through the sandtray in order to access your thoughts and feelings whilst bypassing speech. If you've ever found yourself unable to describe what's going on for you, this can be a great way to still be able to make use of the therapeutic space.
It's important when choosing a therapist to find one who can help you. Qualifications can be a great starting point at helping you to find someone who's up to the task. I have an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Roehampton University, am an accredited member of the BACP (one of the UK's leading regulators of counsellors and psychotherapists) and have a certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counselling from Change, Grow, Live as well as having undertaken regular top up trainings in a number of areas since my original qualification.
If you think a session with me might be helpful then get in touch. If you're not quite sure then keep reading through my site, or if you have a specific question please contact me and I'll be happy to discuss your needs.
